Welcome to the first of a series of canopy beds made by deftly supplementing antique beds with contemporary structural pieces to complete the canopy
portion of the bed. The canopy is based on 18th century European designs. The headboard and footboard are circa 1900 antique
cast iron and have a 7" drop enabling them to accommodate a full box spring and deep mattress. At approximately 7' 6" tall, this bed fits comfortably
in almost any room. Delightful to look at and think back to bygone times!
Assembly is easy and best done by a two person team.
Side rails and cross supports are included. Bedding is not included.
The non-canopy part of this iron bed was handmade before the start of World War One. When the war started in 1914, production of cast iron beds dropped
significantly because iron was diverted for the war effort. After the war, metal beds were mass produced in aluminum, a much easier and lighter
metal to work with.
