What an expression of fluid movement the master craftsman had with the design of this antique cast iron full size bed.  It's almost as if the bed is singing a wonderfully lyrical song.  Footboards are generally slightly more ornate on cast iron beds, but this one is spectacular with the movement continuing almost to the floor.  Quite the sight when walking into the bedroom!

During the restoration process of this metal bed, the old lead paint was sandblasted off and replaced with a durable baked on lead free paint in a satin black finish.

This cast iron bed was handmade before the First World War ended the era of iron beds.  The start of the war meant that all iron was diverted towards the war effort. After the war, similarly styled beds were mass produced on assembly lines and were constructed from aluminum a metal that was much lighter and easier to work with.

In 1902, this double size iron bed was advertised in the Fall and Winter Catalogue of the S. Carsley & Co. in Montreal and a picture of the ad is included with the detailed pictures of this full iron bed.

If you are using this iron double bed frame with an extra-long full double mattress, let us know and we will lengthen the rails to accommodate the fit.  These longer rails would also take a queen size mattress, but please be aware that your box spring would overhang the edges by 3” on either side.

Side rails and cross supports are included.

    Bedding and accessories not included.

    Headboard:  60.5";  Footboard:  41.5";  Width:  54";  Drop:  14"
